Connect SAS to SATA port without backplane

I am trying to connect my SAS drive "Western Digital 14TB 7.2K 12Gbps 512MB 3.5" SAS HDD WUH721414AL5201" into my X570D4U motherboard via a SATA port.

What are my options if I don't want a backplane?

Would a "7 Pin SATA Serial ATA to SAS 29 Pin & 4 Pin Cable Male Connector Adapter Cord" work?

You'd need 2 things:

1. PCIe SAS HBA card, with a SAS to SATA (x4) breakout cable. Example: LSI 6Gbps SAS HBA 9200-8I IT Mode P20 ZFS FreeNAS unRAID + 2*SFF-8087 SATA US | eBay
2. an adapter on each drive, like 2pcs New SFF 8482 SAS to SATA 180 Degrees Straight Head Adapter Converter 22 Pin | eBay

Can't use a PCIe lane. I'll have to end up buying a SATA drive then? This is for one drive only.

You cannot use SAS devices on a SATA controller.
