I saw another post with 9000-series Epycs from Newegg in it; and then saw this and thought it was a good deal - seller is taking offers too so could be lower in theory. Would be great option for IT department looking for database server, app server, colo etc or someone who is not poor like me.

$6600 for this thing, new, blows my mind especially given the core count, RAM etc. Seller appears to have good feedback.

Not new, but looks like you could put together a RS500A + 9654P for $1500+$4000=$5500.

Yeah, if I'm doing self assembly then I'd just get parts separately including rack chassis. Supermicro boards are disturbingly cheap and likely to get cheaper IMO.

The original post was for folks running a business who just wanted something dropped on their doorstep ready to go.

RS500A-E9-RS4-U is EPYC 7k platform, not 9k Genoa, so very different.

We have hundreds of both running, SM is great for what it is, building up your own stuff but that 12x u.3 nvme and double the ram slots if hard to beat on the ASUS setups.

And incase anyone wondered that is our listing / one of our companies.

I've done a fair bit of business with @DanP and co. They're top-notch on all fronts.

Oops I missed that! I don't see any RS500A 9k servers on eBay. I suppose not making the error of ordering a 7k platform for your 9k Genoa CPU has got to be part of the value proposition, too. :p
