Hi Shadowsong,

could you please share your memory config details please ? I've got the same RAM as you but they are detected at 2400 Mhz with my 3200g (waiting for 5950X, meanwhile I'm putting only 2 DIMMs on the motherboard)

Would be greatly appreciated
@Shadowsong I'd also like to know what your memory configuration looks like. It's stated in the manual, that 4x DR sticks are going to run at 2666Mhz. I ordered the board this week, but I'm really confused on which RAM I should purchase.
Honestly I was looking at 4x16GB 3600 CL17 non-ECC memory, but I'm just not sure if these speeds are achievable on this motherboard.

Has anyone installed ESXi latest release with SATA passthrough? it will allow to enable it but it won't work

It stays on the Need Reboot option and won't show it to the VM

Maybe because this board is not officially supported? I am going to have to get an HBA for it which I was trying to avoid

Hey firewall, I updated the latest Bios, went back to previous versions of VMWare, tried different things, wasn't able to do it, purchased a 9300-8i HBA (not from China and the Supermicro model which has "no known clones" works wonderful, have done SMART test, running 2 pools on it at the moment on TrueNAS under ESXi, I purchased the Samsung memory and ran extensive memtest with the ECC injection, the board is a dream, planning to post pictures and separate thread for the build soon. The HBA is so inexpensive (relatively) and available that I got 2 so I can have a backup

EDIT: I see you are referring to not passing through the video card not related to the disk controller, I guess VMWare doesn't support it properly, I would try looking for a "specific" driver or get a different card.

I cant agree, the same GPU was working in the past setup (quite the same Hardware, just other mobo) So maybe i tought you could help out. But i was reading another post, that the integrated GPU from the mobo could interfere with the Quadro. I'll check it as soon im at home.

My biggest concern is that the HP P420 Smart array, does not show any Harddisk attached to it...... now i dont know what is wrong in the Setup..... Maybe the backplane or the Controller or the cables........

Sorry for the delayed response, for some reason I did not get notifications about replies to the thread -_-

My memory is running at 3200Mhz across all 32GB sticks, but only after setting this manually as the default was 2400Mhz. All I have done, is gone into BIOS and set the memory to speed to 1600Mhz and the Infinity Fabric to 1600Mhz as it's best to have them matched. I have not had to adjust timings, they are on auto and run at the rated specs by default.

That setup is working fine across all 3 of my servers which are under fairly heavy load (game servers). Also this worked fine across all of the beta BIOS and also the latest production BIOS which I upgraded to when it came out so seems fairly stable!

Has anyone tried running ClockTuner v2.0 for Ryzen on this board yet with a 5000 series? I would be all over it myself, but unfortunately my servers are now in full use so I can't easily try it, but I see no reason why it would not work assuming all of the pre-req BIOS settings can be enabled/set etc

Would be good to get an idea if it's possible before I plan in some downtime and try it myself!

To be clear, I have no intention of overclocking but I would really like to benefit from the optimized clocks, power saving and heat reduction.

I followed your settings and run memtest pro and seems to be fine, my memory runs at 2666 on AUTO and it is 2933 originally, I will still run it at defaults though .. .thanks for posting

No, not really, not intending to do any clock modifications.
Ah ok no worries, will give it a try myself when I can! I don't want to OC or anything, primarily want the undervolting both for power and heat reduction.

I remember playing with the overcloking feature on the bios until somehow I got RAM running @3200MHz...

Yep, it's under the overclocking settings and then the DRAM speed. Needs to be set to 1600Mhz. Also recommended to do the Infinity Fabric to the same frequency as they should be in sync.

Hi @Shadowsong, thanks for your answer ! I finally received my 5950x, so I could set the 4 x 32 Gb RAM to 3200 Mhz without problems, we'll see the result of a night long memtest :)

I'd like to play with ClockTuner too for the same reasons than you, but I thought PBO 2 was needed for Ryzen 5000 and it was introduced into AGESA 1.1.8.0 (source : AMD unveiled Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO2) with AGESA 1.1.8.0 BIOS – OCWorkbench – PC, Smartphone Technical Reviews – TPG, 5G, MVNO, AMD, Google, Singapore, Malaysia) ?

And if I'm correct we're stuck for now at AGESA 1.1.0.0 ... Sent a support request by mail to asrock rack, they replied they have no release date yet to update to AGESA 1.2.0.0 (not sure they are planning to update to it though)

I read somewhere on reddit that Asrock rack support was better than the one from standard Asrock, but It's certainly not for BIOS updates sadly...

If I'm mistaken about PBO and Agesa, please enlight me ! :)

The Tuning phase made the computer crash instantly. We can see a lot of Vdroop, I didn't find in the bios a way to tune the Load Line Calibration... If someone found this parameter please tell me !

This page (ClockTuner for Ryzen (CTR) Guide by 1USMUS) tells that Asrock motherboards are performing very badly with Clock Tuner despite having good VRM.

Not sure we can go any further on these conditions... Better leave default parameters IMO

The Tuning phase made the computer crash instantly. We can see a lot of Vdroop, I didn't find in the bios a way to tune the Load Line Calibration... If someone found this parameter please tell me !

This page (ClockTuner for Ryzen (CTR) Guide by 1USMUS) tells that Asrock motherboards are performing very badly with Clock Tuner despite having good VRM.

Not sure we can go any further on these conditions... Better leave default parameters IMO
Thanks for testing, that's really useful to know. It is a shame though that things don't seem to play nicely with the board, it sounds like it maybe a no go for us but I think a retry once Agesa 1.2.0.0 makes it to us along with (hopefully) a more up to date BIOS with additional options may give better results.

I'd also like to try Clocktuner 2.1 once it's GA as it look to have some significant improvements there.

The confusing part is, usually those adapters are marked as working with U2 drives only (like the Intel SSD 750). Some Amazon reviewers/users state they didn't work with SATA breakout. However I don't know if that is simply because they tried it in an M.2 slot that was for nvme only (no SATA) since these adapters don't have a converter chip. Asrock supports SATA on both, also the adapter they picture is clearly an M2>U2 passthrough type so I don't know where the confusion is.

I'm thinking it's not going to work, and if by some chance it does I don't know what the performance would be, but I'll give it a try. Other option is to spend $50 on an M.2 nvme>sata board like this one: Amazon.com: IO CREST M.2 22x42 to SATA III 2 Ports Adapter Card (Jmicro Chipset), Add Two SATA 3.0 Devices to Any M.2 2242 Slot SI-ADA40141: Computers & Accessories

I could never get it to work in either m.2 slot; tried a couple different brands of adapter and switched the bios settings for the m.2 from nvme to sata but made no difference; these adapters aren't passing sata through or there's some special board setting that's missing. I've never seen the adapter Asrock mentioned for sale anywhere either.
