In my case, 8TB SAS
12 items $180.00 + Shipping $118.42 = 298 + tax or $24.8 + tax per drive

Con: No return or warranty.
If all drives work fine then it is not a bad deal.
If one or more drives is bad ( DOA or in 30 days ) , then the deal saving is wipe out.

Spent 15 min to download and install sedutil-cli.
Running badblocks take the same amount time as any other deals.

I usually pay $32-$34 for each 8TB SAS drives.

$25 each 8TB SAS drives is whole lot cheaper than new 8TB SATA drives

Obviously, we all loooove tinkering and a great deal, but I wonder if you were to evaluate the cost of the time you spent you to make these drives actually work, what was your actual purchase price for these drives? Was it worth it?

I ask, because I’m starting down the path of building from scratch a beast of a home server and I’m wondering money vs time…
A great question.

For me, I paid $100 for 4 drives with shipping/tax. I had to buy a $25 H310 and $15 parted magic (though I got this refunded through amex). I spent about 8 hours on this, maybe a little more, tinkering with this over 5 days. A comparable 8TB SAS HGST is $60

$100 (this deal) + $25 (h310) = $125 for 8 hours of work
$255 (comparable) = $255 for 0 hours of work
Having spent 8 hours for $130 of savings? I dont know, 8 hours is a lot for $130 of savings...
