I got mine this week and tested 2 last night with Anvil and cannot get READ > than 88,000 IOPs for any of the read test and only sequential at 1GB\s all other READ are 350MB (QD16) and then much less... WRITEs 1.8GB\s sequential and 1.6GB\s (420,000 IOP) WRITE @ QD16.

These are supposed to be READ drives with 1DWPD (so still huge endurance), but the READ performance of both drives while identical\consistent is terrible.

Usually when I see this on INTEL drives I run a long format and then re-test and all good... not the case with these MICRON 9200. I even swapped in an OPTANE to make sure my system wasn't the issue, and that worked as expected and was very very fast...

Anyone else benchmark theirs, or just return them?

PS: Mine was in a tower case with 120mm fan blowing on it, and it never got hot to the touch... ambient room temp 68*F

I can test mine this weekend. These drives have the orginal release firmware on them. Looks like theres much more recent firmware out there but I'm unable to find a download anywhere online unfortunately.

You can try downloading Storage Executive from Micron's site, the latest firmware rev seems to be 100007C0 which I did not have to upgrade.

As for my drive, it was overheating at idle yes, then confirmed that it was very hot to the touch (reaching 80c under load). I tried putting a fan on it and it helped to a certain degree but not an ideal solution at all. Benchmarking also confirmed @T_Minus findings, barely over 1GB/s seq and way worse for the rest. Gonna try asking the seller what's wrong with it but I do not have very high hopes.

I found a bootable ver of 101008S0 which I think is almost the newest firmware. But it did double my read speed, and helped the writes a tiny bit.
Thanks! I'm going to grab that firmware now and test again.

I'm "OK" with the speeds you posted for $50\2TB NVME

Newer firmware improved high queue depth sequential in CDM. Only metric that seems way off is the random read. 700k iops quoted in the datasheet and this is closer to 130k. I'll probably still keep them.
