UPDATE:
I managed to get into the installer using YUMI to get the .iso on the USB drive. Now more problems. Apparently it doesn't have a driver for my HDD controller. Can anyone either tell me how to or point me to a guide on installing the drivers during the installation? Also the manufacturer...
I finally managed to download ESXi through a great circuitous nightmare. I put the ..iso on a USB drive using Rufus. When I boot from it I immediately get a message saying "Remove this media and press any key to reboot". When I do so nothing happens. Thoughts?
I tried both FF and Chrome. They both had the same problem. I had a friend download it and then upload it to Google Drive and send me a link. That site is trash. This was not the first issue I had with it.
Thanks for pulling my bacon off the fire, again! The other 4 blue slots worked.
I also got the Dell card installed. It's in IT more so it looks like I'm good there. I still haven't taken the time to address the BMC but I did download the .zip.
Noise...... Not good. Its about as loud as a...
It wasn't loading the registration page. I finally, after two days, got it to load. Now the download button isn't responding. This website is pretty broken.
I created an account with VMWaree but I can't seem to download ESXi. It says that I don't have a registration for the product. I've literally spent over an hour trying to get this to work. Am I having an idiot moment?
Got it.
I ordered the Dell card BeTeP linked to. Is this the most reliable and up to date guide for the firmware flashing? https://www.servethehome.com/ibm-serveraid-m1015-part-4/ There are tons out there but they're all pretty old so I don't know if I can trust the files they contain.
I did specify the router as the gateway. As it turns out the problem was the FQDN field. I reinstalled last night and used the default and now everything works!
Thanks for the thoughts guys.
Thank you sir! I'll give it a shot this evening.
On a different note, this RAID card appears not able to be flashed to IT mode. Any recommendations on a HBA? The IBM M1015 seems to be pretty reasonably priced these days.
For the FQDN I entered a domain name that I own. Is that my screw up? I can't really find anything about this option. All of the YouTube videos and other tutorials I've watched and read about the installation gloss over this entry. When I enter nothing the installer barks at me.
Just seeing this now. Sorry for the late reply.
The default login credentials don't work. The jumper to enable the BMC is bare. Also I know that it's running because it clearly boots when plugged in initially and then when the system is powered off the lights for the BMC are still blinking...
Yep. https://192.168.1.186:8006
I'm racking my brain and can't think of anything. I've tried plugging the ethernet cable into a different port and it doesn't time out; it immediately fails, so I know it's doing something when it times out.
I appear to have successfully installed Proxmox but when I navigate to the address to log in it times out. I've installed it about 5 times now ust to make sure I didn't screw anything up. Not that there really is anything to screw up. The install process is pretty simple. The only thing I'm not...
Yep. That worked. And your explanation was very clear. I can't thank you enough.
Any thoughts on resetting the password for the BMC? I want to get this thing off of my living room floor with a monitor and racked up ASAP.
