Damn Dell and their custom BIOSes/Sockets, if these C6100s weren't so cheap I wouldn't touch any Dell servers with a ten-foot pole.Hi Patrick,
Both servers are eBay items:
Original server with the locked bios bought from MrRackables (a.k.a unixsurplus.com)
New server bought from: pdneiman
Regards,
Browsing shows the following:Well, add me to the list of people excited about the C6100s. I have absolutely no use for one, but really am tempted to buy one.
What kind of RAM do these take? What would it cost to upgrade one from 96GB to 192GB? (24x4GB). On ebay, the difference is $900 -> $1400.
I did miss the spare parts list at the end of the original post. Patrick really put that together well - tons of great info.Patrick included part numbers for a few of the C6100 mezzanine cards at the end of the first post in this thread.
The ones for the C6100 are very different from what you linked for the R620/720. It does not appear that they would be easily interchangeable. Take a look at examples of the LSI 1068e SAS card (Y8Y69) here or the 10Gbe card TCK99 (here).
dba found much better brackets than I used (and failed with.) Updating first post about those.
Anyone who has a complete 2.5" node, can you please take a picture? Even if you have a 3.5" node, I think that'd be helpful too.
I got a pair of systems and I am missing some parts (heatsinks and SATA cables), and I want to verify that is all that is missing.
