I got a great deal on a Dell S5248 with a perpetual OS10 license. I'd like to try VTL with more switches. Looks like the best deals out there now that have 100G ports are the Z9100 and S5148, which are pretty close in price. Any thoughts on which one to buy, and why?

I guess two positives toward the Z9100:
  1. Is still supported on the latest OS10 releases, the S5148 was dropped off a while ago
    1. SmartFabric OS10 Hardware Compatibility List | Dell US
  2. The Z9100 and S5248 are supported for SONiC last I knew, I don't think the S5148 is, pending you ever wanted to play with this
    1. Just backup the licenses first

Positives toward S5148:
  1. Can maybe find one cheaper
  2. If you mostly have 25G stuff and cables to play with in your testing

Brilliant. That's a superb reason right there. Z9100 it is. I'm surprised...i though the Z9100 was much older.
