Anyone running a e5-2670 fclga2011 sr0kx in a hp z420? Went to change the CPU from xeon 2650 to a e5-2670 fclga2011 sr0kx and kept complaining about a ram dimm?? Put the 2650 in and its fine again?
It may be worth noting that the 2650 is a supported processor and the 2670 is not. It is also worth noting that the 2650 is a 95W TDP processor and the 2670 is 115W TDP.
Finally, specs be specs and the specs claim the maximum memory in a Z420 is 64GB. My system is running 128GB with a 2650. So take the specs with a grain of salt.
It might be a problem with the processor or it might be that the Z420 doesn't like 2670's.
I have got my hands on E5-2643, which is a 130W processor, and it works OK in a Z420. Though I don't have that much memory in the system, only 32Gb in 2 sticks...
