Hope I am not the only one very confused by the naming scheme, but I just hope someone can fill me in.
So you have:
e3-1xxx: 1 cpu config
e5-1xxx: 1 cpu config
e5-2xxx: 1 or 2 cpu config
e5-4xxx: 1 or 2 or 4 cpu config
e7-2xxx: 1 or 2 cpu config
e7-4xxx: 1 or 2 or 4 cpu config
e7-8xxx: 1 or 2 or 4 or 8 cpu config
So far, are all the above correctly stated?
now, please tell me about the specific MB needed for each. i.e. can every single one of the above run as 1 cpu in any 2011 MB (so you can have e7-8xxx running on x79 MB) and inversely you can run one e3-1xxx on a 8 cpu MB if you want?
what is the difference between e5-2xxx, e5-4xxx and e7-2xxx, e7-4xxx aside from the fact that e7 has 3QPI? does that means you have to have a special MB to run e7 or can you just use a more regular MB with only 1 or 2 QPI to run the cpu with just slower interface? are the e7-2xxx and e7-4xxx in some other ways better than the e5-2 and -4?
Thanks.
