Can anyone suggest a few make/model #s of x86-64 based 1U Network Appliances that can be found decommissioned and now in the surplus market reasonably priced ?
My starting point is something like a Barracuda Spam Firewall 300.
Uses a standard LGA1155 (2nd/3rd Gen Core i3/5/7 CPU) micro-atx board, standard 1U power supply, single onboard NIC, Riser slot to add a 2nd.
I am looking for something to run ProxMox, OPNsense, Ubuntu Server for Adguard and perhaps network monitoring. That's it.
Any models that you are personally familiar with, that I can safely order site-unseen over the Net would help immensely.
Alternatively, I would also be open to suggestions of 1U Servers, similar to the PowerEdge R210 (shallow, no front storage, quiet).
Unfortunately, the R210 is the only model in this class, that I am familiar with.
