EDIT : cancelled due to lack of offer, I bought it brand new.

Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a PWS-920P-SQ power supply for my 846 chassis.
I'm located in France.
Thanks

You might want to double check whether the 2824 is compatible with the SQ psu. I think you might need 8824

Edit: 2824 is newer and should be fine

Hello Rand__ ,

Thanks for the heads up.
I was under the impression that all SQ's platinum power supplies required a 2824 PDB

I checked some 4U chassis on Supermicro's site and find the following:
PWS-1K21P-1R GOLD PDB-PT846-8824
PWS-902-1R GOLD PDB-PT846-8824
PWS-920P-SQ PLATINUM PDB-PT846-2824 / PDB-PT846-8824
PWS-1K28P-SQ PLATINUM PDB-PT846-2824

I don't really know why the SC846BE16-R920B chassis has 2 differents PDB though...

The only thing I know is that the PDB currently sitting in my 846 chassis is PDB-PT846-8824.

How to figure out of whether i got PDB-PT846-8824 is or not? I got couple of 846 too i'm looking for SQ PSU.
I have the 1280w SQ model, and so far not tested it.

As far as I know the 8824 is the newer model accepting wide connection PSUs ( and narrow ones).
The other one is older and takes narrow PSU's only.

Edit: correction N24 is old, 2824 is newer

@L3R4F Thanks a lot for that! Problem is i still haven't "opened" them since they are still in packages at storage.
@Rand__ These 846 are the ones we got from the DE seller some months back. Did you get it with 8824?

Weird, I thought it was the other way around...

Weird, I thought it was the other way around...
I had a 2848 or similar model in my sc836 and had to upgrade to 8824 to support newer PSUs;)

If you want to be sure drop an email to SM support :)

If it turns out I am wrong - the 2848's are cheap to get (opposed to the 8824) - which is indication enough:p

yep, sorry

Edit: Hm the old one actually was the *Supermicro PDB-PT846-N24*
Now let me double check with the one you listed

I never hear about this N24 unit.
2824 is the hard one to find. People are selling it for $200 when it costs "only" 130€ in Germany.
8824 is the one that everyone is selling on ebay.

Power Distributor PDB-PT846-2824 - PDB with 23pairs input connector support SC846B
Power Distributor PDB-PT846-8824 -SC846 24PIN REDUNDANT POWER DISTRIBUTOR

The 2824 is not an antique like the N24, so if you have one no need to change it it seems - its perfectly capable of handling (some) platinum PSUs

Maybe you contact SM after all to get to the bottom of this - or I can if you are not familiar with it:) SM Europe usually is quite helpful:)

Actually I think I stand corrected:
The newest addition to the 846 family (SC846BE1C-R1K23B with Titanium Level PSUs) uses PDB-PT846-2824 - so I think you are right re this one being newer than 8824.
Sorry for any confusion.
