hopefully omnipath will be a success and bring some motivation for mellanox rethinking their pricing for those sw-only updates. thats just ridiculous.

I have just been hit with the same news and really angry at how hidden the information is and difficult to get to.

The upgrade is just as expensive as the unit and even more. I am now faced with returning my 6036 for a Dell Force 10 or equivalent which is not ideal or stick with this but convert the entire infrastructure to QSFP

Couldnt you get a 1036 if you only need Ethernet? No idea what those cost though.
If you need mixed IB/ETH then o/c you're out of luck

Thanks, unfortunately I have a mixed network. We have equalogic (10Gb) and looking to upgrade our Open-E cluster to 40Gb.

Any experience with Dell Force 10 S6000?

@Rand__ the Mellanox ethernet switches are listed for 5k+ for refurbished switches in the mellanox store (no mellanox ethernet switches on ebay for comparsion). For that money you could get 5x arista switches with 32 40gbe ports.
