You don't need the frame. It's easy to install an EPYC without frame, just did it yesterday.

Just don't drop the CPU into the socket. Same as installing literally every other CPU with LGA socket...

Yep, you don't need the frame. It's nice and it makes life easier, but if you gently drop the cpu in the socket- it's 100% the same.

I would even go as far as recommending NOT to use frames when your CPU does not have one!

You would need to be extremely careful when glueing the frame to the CPU to make sure it really sticks to the frame.

German Youtuber and overclocker der8auer was in a similar situation: He disassembled CPU + frame, but put them back together. When he tried to install that CPU, the CPU dropped out of the frame (because he disassembled CPU + frame earlier), hit the socket and damaged it beyond repair!
