Hi! Located in Western Australia. Looking for a hookup or advice on RAM that will work in EPYC, need about 512GiB of it. Cheers.

Hi Wings. You might get more responses if you listed what hardware you are planning to run (ie. CPU(s) and motherboard).

EPYC needs ddr4. If it is a newer one, it will need something between 2666 and 3200 mhz. First generation can work with 2400 mhz.

Is 2666MHz ram viable? I had the homelab people tell me it was awful and would set my house on fire and make my partner leave me.

I can get 3200MHz ram but it's about 70% more expensive :( I don't think my use case necessitates it, and unless I'm wrong it's not INCREDIBLY faster.

Using 8 channels will get twice the bandwidth that I have. I wouldn't pay extra for 3200 mhz...
