So the time is here, I have been accumulating hardware that the new colo plan will likely not use. So let's see what we have for sale:
  • 2x Intel Xeon E5-2690 CPUs --- Got these when I was planning to do a 2x Xeon E5 single server colo -- now don't need them since I'm going lots of less expensive machines. SOLD
  • HP P411 with RAM and BBU (unknown life left on it though) - Took pictures but booted it once. $150. When I "finally" free my HP SAS expander will make sure you get the first PM if you would like since this is a card you can flash those with.
  • 2x Intel EXPX9501AT 10GbE adapters $300 for the PAIR
  • Intel Core i3-540 SOLD
  • GoPro Hero2 Outdoor NEW unopened $250

More to come. The $500 + 50/mo infrastructure project is turning into 5x both of those costs :-/More to come. The $500 + 50/mo infrastructure project is turning into 5x both of those costs :-/

Core i3-540 sold.

Lowered prices significantly. Colo build-out is expensive :-/

How noisy is the fan on those EXPX9501AT ?

Also can anyone confirm that EXPX9501AT is supportted by esxi v5.1?

Thanks.

Yes, i can confirm that it is supported on ESXi. I ran one on ESX for several months before I sold it on eBay (and based on when I sold and when Patrick bought I think Patrick might have been my buyer...).

Cool, what is the fan noise like? I am not concerned about the fan noise in my ESX server, however I plan to put the other one in a workstation that I would not really want a screamer in.

I did pretty much the same thing. Server in the garage, WS in the house. Fan noise in the workstation is why I abandoned the config and sold the cards...

I know I bought two off you.

They are not good for a workstation or anything in the same room as you are unless you put a new heat sink on them. I have modded one with a new heat sink, look in the 10GbE thread, but you have to keep a fan signal going to it or it shuts down the PHY chip. You can use a 555 circuit, a microcontroller, or I am currently using the tach(yellow wire) of a CHA8012CS 80MM fan(3k RPM, but it is 7V-ed).
