Setting up a new box and have been testing out Windows 8 Hyper-V. Works great on the desktop. Here is the guide which shows which steps I am using to install Windows 8 Hyper-V.

Here's the thing. I am getting the Windows 8 Hyper-V Platform option like this:

But... it isn't working... the service says that it is running but I cannot connect to the Hyper-V service locally or remotely with Hyper-V tools.

Anyone run into something similar?

I have a Windows 8 box running with Hyper-V and it works fine. Do you get anything when trying to launch the Hyper-V manager?

Have you checked your BIOS settings to make sure that virtualization is enabled and the noexecute disable settings are configured correctly?

I had a similar experience where Hyper-V remote connection tool not connecting to my virtual machines anymore. My problems started after I tried to configure an external virtual switch using my wireless adapter.

I needed to run a "Windows 8 Refresh" to get the virtual machine connection working again.
There are some side affects to a refresh though. You will need to reinstall most of your applications including Office etc.

Here's a link on how to perform a refresh:
