a friend of a friend is selling his 1080 TI FE card. condition is supposedly almost new. my friend has told me what his asking price is, but i don't know if it is good or not? so, what would be considered a fair price? a good deal price? and a "pony up the cash now, it's a no brainer" price?

There isn't a good price on 1080Ti but the best price recently is that Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080Ti @$659 on massdrop: Aorus GeForce® GTX 1080 TI 11G

Not sure if it's still alive, however.

If you need to drive 4k then yeah..that would be the deal. If 1440p and some 4k, the best bang/buck card right now is the 1080 and I saw one today on Slickdeals for $478...also dont' know if that's still alive..you'll have to check.

GPU's are still way overpriced right now. I just built an X370/Ryzen 1600 rig with a GTX1060 and it costs around $1100, that same PC cost $1000 w/1070 a few months ago, granted it's not all the GPU it's a combination of memory, SSD and GPU pricing.

Having said all that, i'm seeing 3rd party regularly go for $700+ on the forums, Hardforum, ebay..etc.

So, a 1080 TI for $480 would be considered a good deal? How about $550? Or $600, $650? $700 is the typical going rate?

$700 cash for used Founders and they sell just about instantly on Craigslist.

FS: Asus 1080ti, Intel 7800x, Intel 7900x

If i'm breaking rules here, i'll remove..but found this on Hardforum this morning. Not bad for a blower style card but if you're willing to wait for a slickdeal or massdrop deal then you could buy new for possibly less.

I mentioned the non-TI 1080 in my original response as to what exactly you needed and what I believe the best bang for buck high-end card is now....still believe it's the GTX 1080 NON-Ti, again, i'm seeing them not much more than 1070's around. Just need to make sure that's going to do it for you, if you want all 4k then possibly not pending games..need..etc.

I am kinda pissed at Nvidia though for unlocking GPU compute potential ONLY on the Titan Pascals in response to Vega, should've did that for 1080 and up.

@msvirtualguy - those are the cheap blower coolers. Founders Edition is better and with a backplate. I was having stability issues mining with one of those cards. Someone told me that the main purpose was to be a few bucks cheaper so those that are water cooling can get the stock layout card cheaper.

Spend $20 more and get a used Founders.

FYI, I now take back my waiting it out comment. Reports are coming in that Nvidia card prices will get even higher due to GDDR5 memory shortages! Could a 1080Ti possibly get to $800-$900??!? That would be insane.

Doesn't the founders edition have poor acoustics? I guess if you are mining you won't care. For an office the MSI cards seem to be nice as they can run without fans.

Under load they scream. At idle or low load, I was surprised with how quiet they are.
