That is correct. Xeon/i3/Pentium/Celeron only. The board requires ECC RAM, which your i7 doesn't support. The i3 and others actually do.

What features do you need? What board sizes can your case take? Does your case use standard ATX connections for power etc? I've used an X11-ssz-QF Supermicro X11SSZ-QF motherboard review - ServeTheHome in a couple of systems with an i7-6700K and they've been fine but they weren't 1U, but there's nothing on the board that wouldn't fit in 1U so long as you had a suitably sized HSF for the CPU
