Im looking into getting a new workstation with dual 2650 v2 and a supermicro x9 motherboard. There is limited support for 1866mhz memory speed, but it all depends on the memory. Now I don't need 1866Mhz but 1600Mhz would be nice.
If I want 1600Mhz 16GB sticks, do I need to look for 2rx4 modules? In the Supermicro manual they specifically mentions drx4 for these speeds. And PC3L sticks will not work with these speed if Supermicro says so in the manual?
