What's the power on hours? What speed are they? What type? SATA? SATA revision? What make and model? Where were they used?

I just updated images and model number on the original posting WD2500SD-01NVB1 I'm not sure how to see how many hours are on them I just know how to wipe them. If you can tell me how to check the hours ill do it on a few of them to get a general feel for the hours on all of them.

Crystal Disk Info is your friend. Download it and use the SMART information on each drive and note it's info and serial number :)

Is it a way to do this while I have the disks in a server? without an OS?

you need some "OS" to run programs, but you don't necessarily need an "installed" OS to read the smart info. you can use one of the "live" USB/DVD images and boot that, download the smartctl tool if not already available.

The model code translates to a 7200rpm 8MB cache drive with a max of SATA150 and are from around 2006 give or take a few years.
