(newb question, but here goes)
I have a zpool - 2 vdev stripe of 3x2tb raidz. THe drives I'm using are Seagate SV35.6 - but I have a couple of Hitachi enterprise drives and other Seagates (LP/Green) around, and was just wondering if it would be recommended NOT to set these up as hot-spares?
In the even of a disk failing, I would get the same drive, but in the space before getting it, would it be better to rebuild the raidz with another make/model and then replace it once I get the "correct" drive?
Another thing... I have a box (ESXI5.5, Omni-OS napp-it image) with plenty of RAM, ~64GB, but am not seeing the usage go up considerably. Is there any way to "optimize" it?
