USB 3.1 20 ping male to USB 3.0 female adapter

My workstation chassis has a 20 pin USB 3.1 male cable : LINKUP - USB-C Type Panel Cable Mount Motherboard Header Extension Adapter | Internal 3.1 10G Gen 2 20-Pin A-Key Male | Walmart Canada

But my X11SSH-CTF motherboard only has a USB 3.0 female connector ( I already used the older 20-pin for other USB ports ).


I've looked all over but I can't find an adapter to connect these two although I'm sure there must be. Anyone knows of a magic cable or adapter that can do the job ?

The USB3 male on your mobo is meant for booting from flash e.g. esxi via usb stick not for connecting chassis io.

Use a USB3 IDC adapter like this https://www.amazon.com/LINKUP-Internal-Motherboard-Converter-Adapter/dp/B07WG8ZJ41 and connect it to the cyan USB3 header.

I already have a 20 pin cyan cable going there which connects to other usb ports.

Can't I use that usb socket for usb functionality ?

This is pretty janky and I doubt it'll work, but maybe you could go from USB 3.1 female -> 30 pin USB 3.0 male -> USB type A?

You can use the USB3 male for usb but I would not connect usb c to it, you would need to use multiple adapters and won't get any decent speed, if it works at all.

Your best bet then is to use a internal a key header pcie card like this https://www.amazon.com/BEYIMEI-Expansion-Internal-Connector-Express/dp/B09L83Y1W9

awesome idea! yes, that would be ideal versus chaining a whole bunch of cables together.

still, pretty surprising that there's no direct cable that would solve this problem
