says " Supports up to 2TB Registered ECC DDR4 3200MHz SDRAM"

Plus I called supermicro support, and they told me I needed 3200mhz memory, and my 2666 was not enough.
the motherboard showed a splash screen twice, but not POST.
I can access via IMPI and it shows the 2666mhz modules.

I want to get the mb to POST.
yeah that's just the MAXIMUM supported spec. Are you gonna kit it out with 2TB as well?

I'm happily using these 2666mhz modules in my H12SSL-i (though they're out of stock now but you can prob find the same part number).

The H12SSL-i absolutely does not require 3200MHz RAM, that is just the maximum supported speed. I'm happily (kinda) running 2133 in mine.
haha (kinda), you're really missing out! My benchmarks numbers are sssooo much bigger.

I went with 2666mhz just cost wise. Plus this thing was gonna host a flash array.

I suspect the 2666 works with the rome processor, but not with the milan processor.

I doubt that, you could pick up a stick or two. When testing I used a stick to just boot. Like $30 for a stick wouldn't cost you much more than the crosship for borrowing from someone.

You could also let me borrow your shiny milan processor :D.

I got a really nice deal on a bunch of 32GB 2133 sticks, so that's what's in there. I'm not really memory bandwidth constrained at the moment, more capacity. The itch is always there, though.
