Thanks! You definitely have a different use case than me. There's entire days that nothing and nobody accesses my Unraid system. And on the days there are accesses, there's often hours-long gaps between them.
So, with modern drives being so much more tolerant of spin up/down its more cost effective for me to have a couple hundred extra, or even a couple thousand extra, spin cycles a year (on drives rated for between 300K to a half million), in exchange for the savings in heat & power.
