This might be interesting, Unitrends have just released a free version of their VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V backup solution for home labs. I have started testing by backing up Hyper-V lab, works well so far.

It does have a 1TB limit on VM protected storage, so definitely not useful for my home setup!

But good for small labs, proof of concept, etc...
