While I wait for this board to get here (estimated first week of April) I thought I would look around here but I only see mentions of it, no one with first hand experience yet so I thought I would open a thread as i wait. The plan is to replace my aging Supermicro MDB-X10SDV-TLN4F that's been running well the last 6 years. Now getting a few single bit errors from one memory stick so I've got to by memory at the very least, but thought I would see what something 'modern' would do by comparison. I'll miss IPMI but it's not like it's not right next to a TV I can just connect it to so not a big loss. Yea no ECC on that chip I discovered after ordering 64gigs ECC Kingston. Oh well, if they ever come out with the 7735hs one, I will just put that memory in there (have to update my aging NAS, a Supermicro MBD-X10SL7-F, at some point so will need another board but with ECC). Plan is to run ESXI 8 on it (running 6.7 on the X10SDV now) or maybe PROXMOX but I suspect it will be a pain to import my existing VMs. Thankfully I have ESXI 8 already and the key. Sad that Broadcom bought them, as that is where companies go to die. SoI sit and wait and will hopefully have good things to say about it.

Same boat here, and waiting for parcel to be sent.
Hope the BIOS will not be buggy and idle power draw will be reasonnable.

About ECC support, the spec list mentions "...supports server-grade ECC notebook strip".
Is this some misleading info to fool any uneducated buyer about ECC? or does it really means some kind of limited support?

OY I never had such bad luck, not the board but trying to get this board. I order through Amazon, then my 95yo mother breaks her femur and I am not thinking at all about the mobo... Meanwhile, the seller (not CWWK -they were OUT, but Kingnovy branded CWWK) emails me about a question and doesn't ship but I don't see it because I am my mother's primary care giver and up to my eyeballs with her... Finally after noticing that the shipment didn't arrive and it missed two delivery dates I notice seller had tried to contact me, about what I have no idea he didn't say... by then too late, he is out of stock. Now the dang board is over 100 bucks more on Amazon because a crappy 1gb nvme and 8gigs ram are with it (don't need and 100+bucks more for it is insane). So I decide to ditch ordering from Amazon but CWWK has been out for weeks... they just came back into stock and I ordered one the other day directly from CWWK. Currently 'waiting pickup' by carrier. Now it has the '8845' CPU on it. Man I hope it is worth it. Planning on either doing esxi 8 (yes I have installer and key Yea Broadcom is where companies go to die...) or Proxmox on it and moving my VMs over.

Doesn't look like anyone here has one and posted any review or anything yet... and yea I know, no ECC but I am not using it for data storage, just VMs for my home lab. I hope it's worth the wait after all this...

Well, it's supposed to be getting here today (holds breath...). So far the purchasing experience direct from CWWK has been fine. They provided a 'tracking number' right away, guess I will find out how accurate that is today. Time to take my old Thermaltake V1 case apart (love that case, don't mind the size as it has a 200mm fan in front and is just this side of silent), blow out the dust bunnies, maybe replace the PSU. 64 gigs Kensington ddr5, Crucial and WD 2tb NVMEs for VMs, a couple of 8tb drives for backups... First step is to just get the memory in there and run memtest...

Mid morning yesterday, I checked the door cam, nothing yet. Opened the door and it was right in front of the door. My initial inspection was good, all well packed and wrapped in plastic that would probably keep the box and innards dry if it got rained on. I was hoping that I had a compatible air cooler so I could skip the Jonsbo cooler but no, my stack of coolers is for AMD and older intel and this motherboard works with LGA 1700 coolers. So I put it in the case with a Corsair 750 PSU, attached my two NVMEs and 64gigs Kensington ram (KSM56T46BD8KM-32HA 32gb 5600mt/s Ddr5 Ecc Cl46), and ran memtest while I slept. It completed with no errors. CPU temperature climbed to 74c during the test. I looked around the bios, pretty basic but did indicate that the memory was picked up as 5600. Of course, not seen as ECC but that's fine.

I already had a PCIE NVME adapter with a 500gig NVME in it that already had ESXI 8.2 on it so I booted that to see what would happen. I had been toying with going the PROXMOX route, just testing with an old motherboard/cpu I had laying around, and had tried their converter but my current ESXI box is 6.7u1 and it didn't work with it. So I put PROXMOX on the backburner for now and am doing a straight copy of my 6 VMs, from the old ESXI to my Truenas box, then from there to the new and will stick with ESXI 8 for now. I'll continue playing with PROXMOX on the old server and may yet still switch. But for now I just need to finish moving my VMs and buy another XSIBACKUP license after testing it on ESXI 8, and call it a day.

Very pleased with the way CWWK handled my order promptly and how I was able to track it accurately.

I did run a couple of VMs for a bit after moving them. Boy this thing is much faster than the Supermicro MDB-X10SDV-TLN4F I've been using. the VMs FLY...

Only gripe... on the motherboard, towards the front left are a row of very bright green LEDs. OK if your case isn't in a bedroom or it is in a case that doesn't have good airflow via lots of holes... but this will be in a bedroom and yes the case sides are perforated full of holes. Great for cooling but that pattern of honeycomb holes in green on the wall is a bit much at night LOL. I'll have to get creative with the electrical tape and just drape some over...

When you sleep, you don't see any LEDs. Why world it be a problem?

Proxmox had some compatibility issues with AMD. Don't know if they fixed it. But there were workarounds with VM configurations. If VMs will be crashing, look up on Proxmox forum on which CPU to choose in config.

Naw, those LEDs are like super bright and project the case hex holes across the ceiling like a dozen Batman signals…. Not so good in a bedroom. Can’t get XSIBACKUP running on ESXI 8.3 so will install 7 (darn you Broadcom). But the motherboard has been solid all week though. That’s a good start.

Well, I got XSIBACKUP running on ESXI 8.2 which I had happened to DL along with the 'free' license before Broadcom... I just needed to buy the newer version of XSIBACKUP. So that got sorted. While I miss the IPMI, it's not critical in my case. I installed ESXI on a 500gig MVME in an adapter in the PCIE slot, and put Crucial and WD 2tb NVMEs on the board for VMs. Two 4tb (for now) spinners for local backups. Board has been solid, but I was disappointed with the Jonsbo low profile cooler. I've got the room in my case for a tower cooler but thought, keep it simple... well it got quite loud when the CPU ramped up and it tried to keep up. So I bought a Thermalright Assassin King 120, much quieter and I can't tell if it ramps up at all. All my VMs are moved over and it's been running for the last week with my 6 vms going, (windows server 2012r2/server 2016) running DNS/DHCP/SQL/UNIFI Controller, AD, and a host of other services.

Now I can turn my attention to the old Supermicro MDB-X10SDV-TLN4F that's been throwing ECC errors (11 or 12 this year, but it's been 24/7 since 2017 so no complaints). I'll take it down to 32gigs ram once I confirm what stick(s) are really bad (has 64gig) and reuse my 7yo 2tb Samsung 960pro NVME that cost me 1200 bucks back then (yea I was nuts) along with a couple of old 1tb SSDs and just play with PROXMOX. Maybe I will switch once I am comfortable with it, maybe not. But ESXI is as much a dead-end as Broadcom... This will be my last ESXI box. Shame, it was perfect for what I need, light weight and simple.

Overall, I am pleased with this board so far. Something like this with an ECC capable CPU/RAM would be the bees knees for a home NAS. The search for one continues... my next project is to replace my just as old Supermicro MDB-X10SL7F...
