Hello! I do not know if this is a good deal at all.
However, I have not found any other card which makes 4x25GbE in this price range.

Price is good I think - two things I don't like:

1. It has a fan
2. Its qlogic chipset apparently

The same card from mellanox is passive (same as in 1x100gbps) - but at that price its a very good deal I think
If you can live with an active screamer fan.

I have no idea But the card you bought seems to be a good deal - in particular if you can find drivers for your OS.

As far as we have found the chip actually support it but most vendors don't implement the function. So basically, no.

looks like a fairly normal price for that card.
Overall there is a bit of a selection for cheap 25gbe nics, getting the switch however...

Tends to be why you see so much 40gbe in labs.
Since you can get a 40gbe switch for 100-150$ and nics as low as 25-30$ for some brands.
