I have a dualScreenshot 2022-11-21 081352.png AMD EPYC supermicro motherboard. It has one nvme slot on the main motherboard.
But it has 2 other potential slots:
CN1/CN2 are marked as " NVMe0-1/NVMe2-3 Connectors (both from CPU2) "

1) How can i make this work? I guess i need a U2 cable to connect the M2 nVme?

I found some cables on amazon, but I am not sure if thats what I need;

2) if I can make this work, will the speed be same as putting a PCI4 Express to nvMe adapter?

thanks!

maybe , thanks...
I have another question: one processor is running all threads at 100%, the second one is running at 50%.. why?

Threadripper S20 Torque screw, HT1 thermal paste etc used. T
Temps are good at CPu and ram.
IPMI shows good ram (16x16GB Dell server RAM) and 2 CPU's

why are both not running at 100%?

What OS, what workload, and how are you checking CPU usage? Scheduling of threads to physical processors happens at a granularity of microseconds or less without user intervention -- unless you pinned the workload to a particular cpu or set of cores.

Windows 11, Core temp, Chess program Stockfish 15
one is showing 100% on all cores, the other one is around 50% (not exact, moves)

edit: I only have experience with the gen 3 n4 backplanes.

maybe? I've heard they exist and indeed you can find slimsas SFF-8654 to dual SFF-8643 - whether the wires line up correctly I cannot say.

btw, the cable that @RolloZ170 linked is showing currently unavailable for me here in the states. Here's another one that is in stock in the states and consumes a single power molex instead of two sata power

i bought a bunch of these

and put them into H12DSI with sas 3 backplane's + N4 and nothing's being detected, on multiple servers.

i'm either not doing something right or the cables aren't the right cables.

edit, one is now working, trying rest

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone figured it out how to make this work?
I also have H12DSI Supermicro with 2 CN ports and according to the docs I should be able to connect 2 NVME M.2 each. I found something like this GD9801G (3.5" SLIMSAS 8I (SFF-8654) TO M.2 NVME SSD X2 ADAPTER) but the guy is not sure if that is compatible with the CN motherboard connector. Also which cable to use with it, gdc74-5502 cable?
