Does anyone buy these consumer-level (whatever that means) drives and use them in 8-12x ZFS arrays? Or do most people just grab deals like this for a cheap drive for one-off storage that isn't stressed so much and buy WD REDs or HGST NAS drivers or whatever for their larger arrays?

Been running 4 in zfs mirrored set since early this year w no probs. Picked up 2 more to expand other day. Replaced Seagate 4TB's from several years ago. I'd check over on freenas forums for the model.

For RAID arrays I use & recommend drives that have TLER, which desktop drives do not have.

WD Reds or HGST NAS variants do have TLER.

Isn't TLER completely irrelevant outside of hardware raid controllers?
