I'm not looking to tinker... I could add a heatsink if needed as I have some, but that's about the extent I'm interested in putting in any work to just get going :)

With that said, I'd love to find a 3x-6x 2.5gig port with 1 or 2 SFP+(10Gig) ports.... something I can plug-in and go.
Ubiquiti, Netgear, ? What's the go-to switch that meets these reqs and isn't $500

If we're talking wishlist... would love 4x SFP+ and 4-6 2.5gig :D :D

But not $420 :) do they exist?

This Microtik has managed 8x2.5gig and 2 SFP+ at $239. STH reviewed it recently.

You read the cheap switch Buyer's Guide right? Several very cheap unmanaged (plug-in and go) options with 2.5gb ports and 1-2 sfp+ (scroll down the guide to this section). Several of these are sub $100. A cheap option with several 2.5GBase-T and 4 SFP+ is tough.

On Aliexpress and Amazon, there are various brands (Horaco, Xikestor, Vimin, Sodola, Hisource) of switch all based on Realtek reference design. Very low power and available in managed 4x2.5Gbit+2xSFP+ or 8x2.5Gbit+1xSFP+. Pricing is between 50 and 120 EUR/USD. There are unmanaged and L2 managed versions.

Anybody own the TRENDnet TEG-3102WS? Was hoping to get some feedback if its two SFP+ ports will have any problems driving 2 of - 10GBaseT SFP+ Modules (power, heat issues? the two SFP+ ports are very close to each other) Its 8-port 2.5GBaseT ports, and 2 10G SFP+ ports looks like a good fit for me, but definitely would have been nice if it came with 2 - 10GBaseT ports instead.

I'm trying to upgrade from my NetGear GS110EMX Switch which as 8 - 1000BaseT ports, and 2 10GBaseT ports.
