I have an extra/ older Synology DS1812+ that is no longer necessary. Not sure what will come of the box since I have zero use for it at this point. It has those old HGST 2TB hard drives that we all loved years ago. Unlike the 3TB WD Reds, the Synology "Secure Erase" feature is not available.

My backup plan for the 2TB drives is to put them in my startech secure drive eraser (this one) which works great for single drives. I am not sure if I want to spend many hours per drive x 8 drives on the process so if there was another way with them all hooked into the Synology that would be great.

For those wondering why I do not put them in a desktop/ server... I am down to 4x 3.5" drives at home :)
