I won't lie this is really disappointing. In my opinion this is not a competitive product. 4 year old CPU technology? Plus you have to choose between 10GBe or M.2 Sata.

I was considering upgrading my 1812+ to the new version when it came out, but $1000 for this seems a bit silly.

Agreed, I was waiting for the latest 8 bay with 10Gb support and the choice here kills it for me. Netgear has made the right choice with Xeon D, but still lacking in the cache support..etc. It seems QNAP is the only one that's getting this right, yet very expensive. Would like to see a vendor with right caching options, NVMe PCI-E and m.2 support, and 10Gb with a modern CPU at an effective price.

Yea - I might just build my own with a uNAS 810a and this motherboard.

Slightly more expensive, but you get 2x M.2 PCIe and enough SATA/SAS for 14 drives.
