Anyone have experience with the Symantec NetBackup 5020? These are 4U servers supporting 24 disks, pretty similar to the SuperMicro 846.
From a quick research I found out that these servers are originally Huawei T3500 G2.

I'm mostly interested in what backplane is on these and if they are SAS1/SAS2 backplanes or just dumb passthrough backplanes that can be used with SAS1/SAS2/SAS3/etc. controllers.

I know these are pretty out dated but it's possible to get them pretty cheap, would make a fine box for big/cheap storage.

Attached some pictures of the backplane I got from a seller.

Looks like 6G HBA and if only 2 connectors for 24 drives most likely an expander backplane.

Oh that's too bad! Looks like Supermicro is still the only option then for budget 4u / 24 drive

Why? I'd have said the contrary, since this is the cheapest option to run a large amount of hdds with little cost?
