Supermicro X8DTE-F borked? See's half ram, and wont boot usb/cd - help

I had a working X8DTE-F but decided to move to a Lian Li D8000 chassis. So I thought no problem. I mounted the board, hooked everything up, and it now only reads half the ram. I have registered ECC ram with all slots populated. The bios sees both of my L5520s. Another issue is that whenever it gets time to boot from a CD or a USB stick it just sits at a blank screen with a blinking underscore at the top left of the screen for ever until I power cycle it. I tested the CD (vmware esxi 5.1 burned to a cd) and it boots just fine.

I swapped ram out for known working ram from a c6100 setup, I might have another chip around to test the chips but I think they are fine, I just have no idea how this could be. It'd be helpful if it was all or nothing, but I am unsure as to why it is half working.

So the system boots from CD I'm going to boot it with a single cpu and see what happens

Going to see if flashing it to a new bios might work. Still think it's something else seeing as it worked fine before

I just had some similare symptoms on my X8DTH-6F, that I just fixed (http://forums.servethehome.com/processors-motherboards/2250-issue-supermicro-x8dth-6f-l5639.html)
Turns out it was the AHCI-settings that were set to "Intel AHCI ROM" instead of "BIOS Native Module".

Good to see you figured it out. Most of the issues I have had are due to a BIOS setting

I think my board was bad. I've had a few of these boards and other than this one boards issue none were problematic. I'd say buy one. I really like the ones I had.
