tempted but gotta wonder why it says E5 V1 only, no bios update to V2? is this a specific board revision that has no V2 bios update. all the specs also says DDR 3 1866 which is what the V2 cpus are.

I noticed that V1 issue as well. There is a much newer BIOS that will support V2.

sure but is it not possible to flash a newer bios on this board for V2 cpus? or is this like an odd ball board revision which has no updated bios and thus why its V1 only

Listing says BIOS updated to latest rev. and mr rackables is usually pretty good about calling out these kind of things. Also they will counter a lowball offer so you should be able to get a little more off it if you do pull the trigger.

The title says its revision 1.10 but in the description it says "SUPERMICRO MOTHERBOARD X9DRi-LN4F+ Rev 1.01a Dual Socket LGA 2011 R". Something here isn't adding up that's for sure.

There are several other sellers now that have these for similar pricing. I have messaged this one to see if their's will take V2 CPUs.

I don't get why this board has 6 pcie slots and then 1 of them is a 4x in an 8x slot. Is there some limitation with 24 dimms that means lanes have to be sacrificed? This isn't an issue on the x9d 16 dimm boards.

I have several of these boards about 5 years old now... Supports v2 just fine with latest BIOS.

I figure I can get another year out of them...

They do need a narrow cooler the standard 2011s do not work...

If my 3TB drives ship I'm going to need a freenas box . I probably don't need dual CPU but the v1 CPUs and ddr3 make it easy to build and overpowered freenas server for a pretty darn good price.

This is a response I got from Justin @ Mrrackables about this ...

the Rev 1.01 motherboard were the first revision of this motherboard when only V1 CPU were available and made by intel.

when Intel created the V2 CPU, Supermicro had to create the V1.20 to be able to accept V2 CPU

I have V1.2 Motherboard for sale at $299 if you want to purchase that motherboard

He keeps saying 1.01 but I'm pretty sure they mean 1.10. That's literally what it says on the board.

when i asked supermicro about this, they said v2 CPUs are supported with BIOS update. idk? does Justin know something Supermicro doesn't or forgot to tell me?

Can you reply to them and ask about the different revisions and see what their answer is? I would trust Supermicro more than them. Mrrackables aren't highly technical and they typically don't actually test this stuff from what most members here have said.
