Of course I bought another one today but I'd have bought one of these if I had seen: New Supermicro SYS-1027GR-TRFT 1U Server Dual PSU 10GE LGA2011 v2 10GbE ports
Looks like there's 4 hot swap bays, 3 x16 slots for GPUs or I'm thinking Fusion-io or NVMe. $650 may not be insanely good but it's also got x540 dual 10gbase-t already there. I'm also seeing a PCIe LP riser slot.
1U you'd get 3x FH well cooled PCIe + 1 LP, 4 hot swap, 10gbase-t. Too bad 4dimms/ processor. Still compare that to 2U Supermicro SuperServer SYS-6027R-TRF X9DRI-F Server Dual LGA2011 Barebone E5 and for an extra $50 you're getting 10 gig built-in and in only 1U.
