Thanks @piranha32 ! Meant IT mode

Here's the link to the resources, was buried in support pages under Legacy Products > LSI SAS 9300-8i

Quick guide (untested, do not have cards yet):

Download the 9300_8i_Package_P16_IR_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows and Installer_P16_for_UEFI

Use sas3flash to flash.

The package contains a BIOS rom, a UEFI rom and firmware file

Correct me if I'm wrong, I think the process is to flash the UEFI rom (unsigned for linux) and firmware file [1]

but according to the guide its possible to flash all 3 with sas3flash.efi -f SAS9300_8i_IT.bin -b mptsas3.rom -b mpt3x64.rom

Code:
[1] Note from readme "The IT UEFI BSD & HII does not require Legacy BIOS to be loaded on to the controller."

Just for posterity: 9300-16i are coming down in price, too. You should be able to grab one for $75. Still more expensive than two of these, but if you're struggling with number of PCIe slots its an option worth considering.

Yep, prefer less slot and power =)

9300-16i is two chips joined together which uses more power ~27W. I've read it requires the additional power connector when using 10+ drives or there could be issues. More power = more heat.

The 9305-16i and 9400-16i use about half the power (~14W) and are half-height 16i cards.

I currently use onboard ports and a few 2-port PCIe 2.0x1 SATA cards which barely use any power and dont need active cooling directly on them. They are not bandwidth limited with SATA drives or SATA SSDs. Works flawlessly with zfs on linux and less power and heat vs 9200-16i.

Wonder why he keeps doing that.
Is it easier to create a new listing than to update an old one? Or maybe there's some i and of fee related thing theyre trying to limit the impact of... I have no idea, but definitely makes it more difficult to keep up with lol

If you have a lot of stock you dont want to collapse the market by unloading all at once you spread it out in batches. Maybe they have this coded in their ebay listing software.

The number of times the seller has re-listed this item is greatly exaggerated in this thread. It's true that the link in the OP doesn't work anymore, but this has been the same listing that @BackupProphet discovered on 7/26. Folks just keep reposting it.

I am not complaining, though. I think it's awesome that people are so engaged on this forum. Keep the deals coming ;-)

Wonder why he keeps doing that.
Two reasons not yet mentioned. One is probably just related to organizing inventory. I'm an eBay seller and I've found it can be easy to get in trouble increasing stock that I might not have because I used a component for another purpose. Assigning a given lot to a given listing might help prevent that.

Another reason is that new listings seem to get a boost from the eBay search algorithm. They also show up with the tag 'newly listed', which can get a lot of attention.
