ok, the offer was:
ESPRIMO G9013 CE I7-13700T 16GB 512GB SSD WIFI/BT W11P
for ca. 1300 CHF. I would have to expand both RAM and SSD though, and this kind of voids the idea of not bothering with a custom build...
Looks like it ticks all the boxes
- platinum PSU 150W
Power supply efficiency in % at 10% / 20% / 50% / 100% load
for 230V ; 90/93/94/94
- plenty of CPU horsepower
- would be interested how cooling is set up to know how much TDP headroom this thing has...
But other than that i dont see any obvious problems.

Wonderful, many thanks. One more question: how would that compare energy-wise (and performance-wise) to a NUC13ANKi7? As discussed above, I won't get around opening the box and replacing some components, hence the DIY aspect becomes almost irrelevant.

Which NUC would you recommend? I had many years ago one of the first Intel Atoms running Asterisk, and the user experience was really bad. But the current NUC generation is certainly much more powerful, right?

I am not keen on building the whole thing from scratch, but if it's just about inserting an SSD and some RAM sticks, that would be OK.
Ever visit this website's homepage? :) They tell you about the newest ones a few times per week. This reply is coming from a Bean Canyon (consumer Coffee Lake) NUC8i7BEH, which is 4C/8T up to 4.5GHz, and up to 64GB DDR4-2400 in 2x So-DIMMs. One M.2 and one SATA. I can't tell you if it's right for you, but it's certainly been great for me for the last 3 years.

alright, this is what happened to power consumpion when I moved from the Supermicro (Windows Server, DNS and DHCP servers, backup software running at night) to the NUC13anki7 (windows 11, IIS, Hyper-V with one guest Windows11 running with 20GB and a small guest linux machine running Asterisk). Average power consumption dropped from >60W to approx. 15W . And the NUC is quite powerful and fast, including the virtual machines!

What would be the target power consumption?
example:
My Supermicro X10SLM + SSD + 2x 120mm fans consumes 17W with Gold PSU to 22W with 300W Bronze PSU

Here is some database for ultra low idle consuming PC builds

As you can see ARM is not always the best for low power you can achieve similiar results with X86 and get the vast x86 software ecosystem.
This is a great spreadsheet for low power consumption! thanks for sharing
