IBM got their switch product line from the Blade (BNT) acquisition in 2010. Apparently it didn't sell well and they sold the line to Lenovo in 2014 together with the x86 server product lines. The G8264 for under $1K is a reasonable deal for 48 x 10Gb ports plus 4 x 40Gb, but the lower price (compared to Arista) reflects uncertainty over long term support.

The Juniper EX4300 originally had 48 x 1Gb ports. Is that a new model with 48 x 10Gb?

From the Juniper listing of the hardware description as provided by the chassis itself:

PIC 0 REV 06 BUILTIN BUILTIN 48x 10/100/1000 Base-T
PIC 1 REV 06 BUILTIN BUILTIN 4x 40GE QSFP+
PIC 2 REV 04 611-044925 MY3713470494 4x 1G/10G SFP/SFP+

So yes, it's 48x1GbE, 4x10GbE, and 4x40GbE, not 48x10GbE, sadly.

It didn't sell well, because they still want $30,000 CAD for it MSRP which is insane.

The g8264, however, has been a great switch for my employer, their lab, and my lab.
