Interesting way to do this. I would personally just get a 4U chassis.

On the other side - I have ~8 C2750 or C2758s and I run them all with fans. That plus a storage controller fanless seems a bit scary to me.

I got the server in a Fractal Design Array R2 right now, was thinking i could just have it on a shelf in the rack.
The hardware is 4x 4TB, 5x 128GB SSD´s and the Asus P9AI-C2550-SAS-4l (actually bought it after your review of it! Looove it!)

So i'm just searching for a case for 4-8 3.5" disks if possible?

I've also been looking at a short-depth/compact case for 4-8 drives, as I have a AV tower that I want to mount a NAS in...

To get 4 drives in 2U or 8 drives in 4U I've been gravitating towards the NORCO RPC-2304 or 4308 as a lower cost all-in-one option.

you could use one of the rackable 3u 16 bay jbod cases, you can modify it to have an intel sas2 24port expander instead of the sas1 expander they come with for fairly cheap, or just use the sas1 if thats enough bandwith for you.

they are 400mm deep + power cable out the back and sas is out the front.

The only problem is that i'm locatet in Denmark(EU) so shipping would cost me 4-600$ on top of the product due to no sellers in EU really. But i'll keep an eye out for one in EU.
