STH YouTube Channel - Yes we have one

Hey - shameless plug here. STH has a YouTube channel. You may have seen some of our videos in pieces. Thanks to @Patriot saying "your sound sucks" for a year or so, the sound has gotten better.

Currently on a drive to hit 3K subscribers. Not many, but some.

We passed 20,000 today. Not bad growth actually.

Guess is that we are going to see 25K in August. If we do, time for a new goal I guess.

If anyone is wondering, it is absolutely killer doing content for the STH main site plus an accompanying video. We made the commitment to our readers that I intend to keep, but it is not easy pushing on both the main site and doing videos.

Of course, I am totally interested in seeing what everyone at 100K subs talks about in terms of game-changing revenue. At 20K subs and doing 10K+ views pretty much every video we are making about $220-230/ mo in ad revenue. For some context, we are spending more getting basic editing on the videos done than YT revenue at this point.

Today, another milestone. We just hit 25,000 subscribers. In the post above I thought this milestone would happen around three months after the May 24, 2020 post. Instead, it happened in only two months. Yikes.

Moral of the story:

• I am pretty good at figuring out STH main site page views.
• I am pretty bad at forecasting YouTube subscriber growth.

Also, revenue is WAY up now on YouTube. We are now making around $400/ mo in YT ad revenue. Still losing (a lot) money after just editing costs not including buying a massive set of nodes and supplies for things like Project TinyMiniMicro, camera equipment, or anything else.

Yes on VidIQ paid. It adds features, however, I am not 100% sure how useful it is. 50/50 on whether I will renew it next year.

This took a long time, but we just hit 35K subs about 4.5 months after 25K. This time, I actually got a screenshot!



Our YouTube is still small, but it is my passion project for 2020 so it is fun to see something that was at under 8.2K subs a year ago at 35K subs 12 months later.
