Edit 11/11/15: Unit is Sold.
Moving from 1GbE to 10/40GbE ... then look no further.
8x 40GbE QSFP
40x 10GbE SFP+
The unit itself is fully functional, but I'm only using a handful of the 10GbE ports (every port has been tested however). I originally tested and verified the QSFP ports at 10GbE by using a Connectx-2 VPI card (has QSFP connectors) in Ethernet mode. I subsequently was able to borrow a Mellanox 40GbE card for an hour and verify that all QSFP ports will connect at 40GbE.
I've tested with a variety of passive cables & transceivers and it seems to pretty much work with everything. Tested with a variety of Mellanox & Intel cards.
With both power supplies connected the switch draws ~69W at boot up, where it spins fans at max for about a min. After this, fans spin down and power draw is ~50W. I had 10 active connections running IOMeter tests and power draw was still ~50W.
Cosmetically there's some rack rash, and the the images below show the actual condition of the unit..
AS can be seen in the above image, the LH PSU has a broken plastic handle, but the PSU can still be removed easily. PSU details as follows ..
Front of unit ...
Details from an SSH session as follows ..
The switch will ship in a box 30" x 24" x 8" with a weight of 33lb. I'll be using the online FedEx calculator (which I have found to be identical to what the store quotes me when I drop off boxes) to determine actual shipping costs (with insurance).
I'm asking $850 + shipping within USA or Canada (import duties and taxes are not my responsibility).
