Hi

My harddrives are driving me crazy with all their noise so I wanted to build them a quiet box they can live in. I only have 6 harddrives so the plan was to buy some very long SATA cables that would go from my motherboard SATA connectors and into my new silent harddrive box. I went looking for long SATA cables, but apparently it's not possible to get them longer than 1 meter. I think I would need about 1.5-2 meters.

Is it possible to make the SATA signal travel further somehow?
Can I have longer cables with a SAS HBA and SATA drives? Are there any PCIe 4.0 x1 SAS HBAs? I'm finding mostly x4 or x8 cards, but my motherboard has mostly x1 slots.

Thanks

eSATA permits 2m. Using the internal SATA ports (even with an eSATA adapter) limits you to 1m. There is no way around this limit while staying within spec, which is why you're not finding longer cables.

Found some SFF-8088 to SATA cables that are 2m long. That would need a HBA though.
