Here is a question... What are people doing to ship servers in the USA? I'm probably going to need to clear out my "big" lab and sell the servers, these are HP DL360 gen8. What are people doing to ship things this big and heavy, any approximate costs?

I have 4 of these that would be going, and hopefully in a single lot. I need to move on to mini-PC for this function.

It's probably not going to be worth your time to try and sell them when you can get those systems on eBay for under $100 shipped. Normally you would buy the appropriate boxes to ship them and well, the actual shipping costs are going to vary depending on where they are going. Probably ~$50 each in shipping costs and similar for the boxes (need volume or to make them yourself if they're to be cheap), so, would even possibly lose money trying to sell them.

You could part out the CPUs, RAM, and drives. Those are light and generally more valuable.

Depends where you ship to\from and if you add insurance. Usually shipping is 1\2 what insurance is. $90-200$ total depending on those and what's in the server to add weight.

If you ship them all you could do freight, and strap them to a pallet.

Local sale may be your best.

Parting them out, DDR3 ECC is going for wicked cheap so I don't think I'm going to be able to fund any portion of new mini lab equipment with them. I may still see about listing them here, not going to bother with ebay. Three are 20 cores with 128gb of ram, the other is 12 cores and 96gb of ram, I have more ram in a package that could be shipped as spares, a few fans, and a bunch of 512gb spinning drives. Blanking covers for the empty slots, drive caddies for everywhere there's a drive, 10gbe and 1gbe cards for three of them as well. Lots of hunting involved to make things what I wanted.

Probably need 2 boxes, I think all 4 servers would be over UPS limits for weight (20-30 pounds each?).

@BlueFox is correct.

I recently bought a Supermicro x10DRU based 1U server with throwaway CPUs but with 192gb RAM, all caddies, rails etc for ~$100 shipped. e5 v4 Xeons can be bought for the price of a hamburger...
