I'm using the instructions at Setting up Brocade ICX6430 to set up a Brocade ICX 6430. The instructions say:
Connect to the serial/console port on the front using a program like Putty (9600 8N1), then connect the management ethernet port to your network
For the management ethernet port to the network, can the 'network' be a NIC on my PC?

If yes, does that cable need to be a crossover cable?

yes, but the nic on your pc will need a statically assigned IP in the same subnet as the management port IP you assign, and no, pretty much every ethernet port made in the last 20 years is auto-mdix so crossover cables arent needed anywhere
