Expand your search to Samsung (very good memory) and SK hynix.

I understand there are Samsung and Hynix but the problem is those aren't on newegg or amazon. Any reputable memory seller on ebay?

One other question, do I need to buy in kit for it or I can buy it individually?

For my home lab use, pick the cheapest price, I even buy one stick at a time if the price is right. There is no issue at all.
Look for Samsung and Hynix brand as well on ebay. Most are server pull and had been running / tested for years.

What is the purpose of your server? Business or Home use. Where are you located? USA or not?
If for business use, ignore the following opinion :
E5-24xx platform is triple channels, ideally, you would use 16gb x 3 ( $144 x 6 for DP ) or 8gb x 3 ( $40 x 6 for DP )
I would rather find some 8gb ram, target price at around $40-$45 per stick.

I wish I could find that kind of deal! I need to get 8x more sticks but I have been seeing $70+ on 8GB 1600MHz.

For home use and in states. If you found any good deal, shoot it over too.

For home lab, you need lots of money or patience. There are ebay deals out there.
I always end up buying "things" that I don't need or immediate use. It will take me few months or year to gather all the parts to do a highend build.

Few months back, I brought 128gb ram ( 8gb stick x 16 ) at below $40 per stick.
4gb ram stick between $12 to $18 per stick.

Not sure memory is new, pretty sure it is server pull. The gentleman asking price was $40 per stick, I brought 16 sticks, so he cut me a deal.
Ran Prim95 tests overnight, no errors. Going to install the memory in the new Intel 4 nodes LGA2011 server when it arrives.

Earlier this month I seen ebay seller was selling 8gb memory for around $45 per stick.

"HYNIX 8GB 2RX4 PC3L-10600R HMT31GR7BFR4A-H9 DDR3 ECC REGD 1.35v LOW POWER MEMORY"

Low power memory for the same or lower price as regular ram is always good.
mobile_computer_pros is good seller too, I think many folks on this forum had dealing with the seller.
I purchased 3 Dell C6100 from seller mobile_computer_pros last year. He replaced one server board without issue.

Try making him an offer between $50 to $55 per stick

I've been picking up Supermicro-qualified Samsung sticks on SuperBiiz.

Try searching model numbers on Google Shopping (i.e., Froogle) for alternate sellers.
