Given how old the compute nodes, I am not sure if it is worth to buy it but this could be a fun project for creating ultimate home lab.

If you're that close it means your electricity costs should make this unappealing enough to not bother. The platform is very old now with limited support. In the end if you just want to leave it unpowered in a rack to look impressive it might be worth your time. If you're looking for functionality there's almost certainly a better way to get what you need with lower TCO.

I've been wanting to fiddle with distributed computing stuff.

Also, I have a friend up near where it's located, so I wouldn't mind the drive.

I think I'll probably bid up to $30 or $40 and see what happens.

You do not want a Blade setup.. power hungry, generates a ton of heat (although in Winter I could live with that..).. and sounds like a Boeing 747 on take off...

I don't know yet, family took off to Florida for vacation and I am stuck working, have not really had time. I am in the DC Metro area though, and the thing weighs close to 250 pounds. So shipping is completely out of the question as I don't have the material to even package it.

I figure $1000 to $1500 though, maybe.. (think that is too high?)
