Ugh, I'm close enough I could drive there and pick it up in about an hour and a half. I've asked if they do local pickup.

Someone talk me out of this!

If you're that close it means your electricity costs should make this unappealing enough to not bother. The platform is very old now with limited support. In the end if you just want to leave it unpowered in a rack to look impressive it might be worth your time. If you're looking for functionality there's almost certainly a better way to get what you need with lower TCO.

Those are really old right? 1Gb networking. They've got ATI GPUs which are old too. SAS 1 backplane

What's the attraction? looks like a crazy old Core 2 era platform.
Well... I suppose you might be able to get some data out of the disks, if the seller cba to clean them.

I've been wanting to fiddle with distributed computing stuff.

Also, I have a friend up near where it's located, so I wouldn't mind the drive.

I think I'll probably bid up to $30 or $40 and see what happens.

no, no and NO. I can see the spinner in my electric meter flying away down the street like a Frisbee. Add DDR2 and it is a non-starter, even for me who likes old crap.

If you really want a blade server.. I have a C3000 with 2 BL620c G7 (each with 2 E7-2860)... Actually no, I mean yes I am about to list it, but local pickup only.. I'm not dealing with shipping... and I'll list it officially in the marketplace or ebay or wherever

The reason.. around $350 a month in electricity..... and a really pissed off wife :)

You do not want a Blade setup.. power hungry, generates a ton of heat (although in Winter I could live with that..).. and sounds like a Boeing 747 on take off...

@ljvb - I was interested in maybe blowing $50 on an excuse to go hang out with a friend and picking up a stupid toy I'd leave off 98% of the time (or maybe use at work, where they pay for power).

So...., I guess, what are you asking?

I love it :)

Does it require 220V ?

Yeah would be cool to just have it next to your main rack, but how useful would it be ? prolly not much.
I bet its super loud also LOL.

I don't know yet, family took off to Florida for vacation and I am stuck working, have not really had time. I am in the DC Metro area though, and the thing weighs close to 250 pounds. So shipping is completely out of the question as I don't have the material to even package it.

I figure $1000 to $1500 though, maybe.. (think that is too high?)

Nope, 110V, and very loud, like I said, sounds like a 747 on full throttle at take off

Yeah, way out of the range I was hoping to spend, and not somewhere I can drive to (I'm on the west coast).

Thanks, though!
