SATA 2, 2009 drive. Could be almost used up by now and won't be fast.

I'm not sure I follow your logic.

If using this as a SLOG device it most def. would speed up an array of spinning disks, would it not?

Am I misunderstanding a piece of the puzzle?

Even if this has 1PB left for $50 it seems like a decent SLOG for a RAIdz2 or raidz3 array, does it not?

(I'm assuming 4-8 disk array, not a huge array)

(Educate me:))

Is it the 300MB/s could be "slow" compared to the incoming data or slow compard to how fast 500MB/s SSD can get data from RAM to be written? Where would the slow-down be on a small array?

Compared to spinners they're slow, but I'm thinking I may have a use case for these... mysql on worker E3 system... writing 20gb in 10 hours, daily, then unloading to the 'read' DB server. SLC, 50gb, if theres 1PB left could last a VERY long time, is dirt cheap.

Got a handful from another seller. 5hr Power-On hours. Trying to find "DELL SSD" utility to see if I can learn anymore. Testing them still, but most look like NOS to me.
